Tall Paul is an internationally renowned DJ, remixer and music producer. One of the original Superstar DJs. We caught up with him, in-between gigs in Ibiza, UK and Barbados to find out how he came up with with the idea for the brand.<\/p>
\u201cThe seed for Original Ravers started when some friends and I went to a gallery and saw a print of some old C90 tapes. It brought back so many memories of the humble origins of the rave scene. The tape was how I grew up listening to music at home and in the car, how I created and shared my first DJ mixes to get my first gigs. The tape being the<\/em> way to keep the music alive in between raves. It was cheap, easily accessible and everyone had a tape player.<\/p> Cut to a year ago a friend was clearing out his loft and sent me a random picture of this box of tapes, all neatly stacked up. With tapes of all the big name DJs at the time most of them unofficial recordings. I wanted to print a T-shirt for myself as I loved the look of the image, the colours and along side it, the memories of so many nights of great music and nostalgia for a scene that truly changed the world of music.<\/p> My family ran the legendary London club, Turnmills for over 25 years, we were the first to be granted a 24 hour licence, I got my first DJ residency at Trade and my brother and I set up The Gallery, which ran for 30 years every Friday night. We were lucky in London to have some iconic venues that paved the way for the dance music scene to be what it is today.<\/p> Original Ravers is about celebrating the scene we created, as kids, music lovers, DJs, punters and promoters. It was a special time. And something never to forget.<\/p> We are the Original Ravers, every single person who was involved at the beginning did it for the love of the music. Whether it was dancing all night, or working in the clubs, creating the sound systems, DJing, we all did it together as a big collective whether we knew each other or not. And our lives are totally different because of it.<\/p> We want our Original Ravers to remember their memories, for their love of the rave and to remind them of the fun that they had, can still have.
